Deploying Your Rule

Once you have built and saved a rule, it is not yet active. Before a rule can be evaluated against incoming transactions, it must be added to a Rule Plan and that plan must be set as the Active Plan for your environment.

What is a Rule Plan?

A Rule Plan is a collection of rules that run together as a set. When a transaction is submitted to FraudShield, it is evaluated against every rule in the active plan for that environment. This determines which rules run in Test versus Production at any given time.

Getting Started Quickly

When your account is first set up, a Default Rule Plan is automatically created containing a selection of default rules. It is pre-set as the active plan for both the Production and Test environments, so you can start submitting transactions and exploring the system right away.

Review Before Going Live

The default rules cover common risk patterns across a wide range of industries and regions, but not all will be applicable to your organisation. Review the default plan and configure your own rules and rule plans before moving into production.

Adding Your Rule to a Plan

To deploy a rule you have created:

  1. Navigate to the Rule Plans page.
  2. Create a new plan, or open an existing Draft plan to edit it.
  3. Locate your rule in the All Rules list and add it to the plan.
  4. Save the plan and set it as the Active Plan for your target environment.

Once the plan is active, your rule will be evaluated against all new incoming transactions.

Test First

Activate a new rule plan in your Test environment before promoting it to Production. This lets you validate rule behaviour against real transaction data without affecting your live monitoring.
